Although carbon fiber and Kevlar are very similar in shape, they have essential differences in composition, performance and application:
1. Different ingredients
Carbon fiber: a special fiber composed of carbon elements, made of acrylic fiber and viscose fiber, which is oxidized and carbonized at high temperature.Kevlar: It is an aramid composite fiber material, its full name is polyparaphenylene terephthalamide.
2. Different performance
Carbon fiber: It has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, friction resistance, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Kevlar: It has permanent heat and flame resistance, antistatic properties, acid and alkali resistance, high strength, high wear resistance, and high tear resistance.
3. Different applications
Carbon fiber: used as a reinforcing material to compound with resin, metal, ceramics and carbon to manufacture advanced composite materials.
Kevlar: It is an important national defense military material, making bulletproof vests and bulletproof helmets. It is also widely used in various aspects of the national economy such as aerospace, electromechanical, construction, automobiles, and sporting goods.
