What are the mechanical properties of carbon fiber rollers?
Carbon fiber rollers continue the various properties of carbon fiber composite materials, such as light weight, high strength, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, good durability, strong impact resistance, and good creep resistance. These performances may not be particularly outstanding individually, but taken together they appear to be very powerful.
Compared with metal rollers, carbon fiber rollers greatly reduce their own weight and increase the upper limit of strength, which can bring huge energy savings to the start and stop of the rollers. At the same time, the smaller inertia can improve the safety of equipment operation. The most important thing is that the upper limit and width of the roller rotation are greatly increased, which fundamentally improves production efficiency.
Introduction to the production process of carbon fiber rollers
Carbon fiber rollers are made of carbon fiber composite materials through a series of processes. Starting from selecting a suitable core mold, they are layered and rolled with prepreg, then put into hot pressing equipment for high-temperature molding, and then demoulded and rough ground. , spray painting, water washing, fine grinding, dynamic balancing testing and other processes before it becomes a roller that meets customer needs.
3 processing steps after forming the carbon fiber roller
After coming out of the hot pressing equipment, the prototype of the carbon fiber roller is ready. This rough tube still has many defects and needs to go through multiple subsequent processes before it can be officially delivered. The subsequent machining processes can be divided into rough machining stage, semi-finishing stage and finishing stage. Let’s take a look at the differences between them.
1. Rough machining stage: The main purpose is to efficiently remove the margins of various processing surfaces to provide a basis for subsequent semi-finishing. The rough machining stage requires timely detection and processing of blank defects.
2. Semi-finishing stage: Complete the secondary processing of the surface to prepare for the finishing stage. Defects need to be repaired and processed.
3. Finishing stage: It is necessary to use high-precision lathes and grinders to smooth the surface of the roller body to improve the smoothness and overall uniformity of the workpiece surface and ensure tolerance requirements.
Carbon fiber rollers are similar to carbon fiber tubes, but they are also different. Metal parts (mostly aluminum parts) are embedded at both ends of the carbon fiber tube, which transforms it into a roller. For customers, the wall thickness, inner diameter, length, and roughness of the carbon fiber roller can be customized.
