As a new synthetic material, carbon fiber is essentially an inorganic polymer fiber with a carbon content higher than 90%. The microstructure of carbon fiber is similar to artificial graphite, which is a turbostratic graphite structure. And carbon fiber, a synthetic material, has also fully inherited the mantle of carbon elements. Generally, after stone blackening treatment at high temperature of 3000°C, the density can reach 2.0 g/cm3. In addition, it is very light in weight. Its specific gravity is lighter than aluminum, less than 1/4 of steel, and its specific strength is 20 times that of iron. In view of its light weight, high rigidity, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance, it has received widespread attention whether in military industry or civilian use, and is called the king of new materials.
Carbon fiber raw filaments are obtained by pre-oxidation and carbonization of other fibers, while carbon tubes are formed by pultrusion and winding of raw filaments. Pultruded pipes have no texture on the surface and are relatively less used; winding pipes can be made into twill pipes or plain pipes according to different processes, with beautiful appearance.
Carbon fiber tubes basically get their stiffness from epoxy resin. Composite materials wrap fibers and mainly include carbon fiber, aramid fiber and glass fiber. For example: the Mohs hardness of glass is 6.5-7, but composite materials made of glass fiber cannot be judged by the Mohs hardness of glass fiber, but are determined by epoxy resin with lower hardness; the same principle applies to carbon fiber. If you want to increase the hardness of the product, you can choose an epoxy resin with higher wear resistance and higher strength. The highest hardness can increase the Barcol hardness of the epoxy system from 45 to 65-70.
Carbon fiber tubes are a common product among carbon fiber products. They are basically used to replace traditional metal tubes in equipment. They are widely used in aerospace, industrial production, sports equipment, flagpoles, fishing gear and other fields.
