In actual use, the carbon fiber tube usually needs to be connected with other parts, but the carbon fiber tube is hard and brittle, and it will break if you are not careful, so be very careful when connecting. There are mainly four connection methods for carbon fiber tubes: adhesive bonding, mechanical connection, hybrid connection and connector connection.
1.Glue Connection
Adhesive connection is the most common connection method used when connecting carbon fiber tubes. The pipes are bonded together by adhesive, which has high connection efficiency, light structure, smooth aerodynamic surface, and no electrochemical corrosion problem.
2.Mechanical Connection
The mechanical connection methods of carbon fiber tubes include screw connection and rivet connection. The threaded connection can be further divided into bolt connection, screw connection, set screw connection and so on. This method can transmit large loads, has good peeling resistance, can be reassembled after disassembly, is less affected by the environment, and has no residual stress generated when the adhesive is cured.
3.Hybrid Connection
Hybrid connection is to use at least two connection methods to connect two or more components. Typically, mechanical connections through the thickness of the laminate are used in conjunction with gluing, such as bolting and gluing, rivets and gluing, etc. If the connection quality is strictly guaranteed from the process, so that the two are deformed in the same way and loaded at the same time, it can prevent or delay the expansion of the damage of the adhesive layer and improve the performance of anti-peeling, impact resistance, fatigue resistance and creep resistance.
4.Connector Connection
Unlike metal pipes, carbon fiber pipes cannot be welded, and when making connections, machining can damage the pipe walls and weaken their strength. Connecting with carbon fiber tube connectors is the most secure and convenient.
